This blog is about a recent attempt to shame and humiliate others exploring Second Life. Since tonight there will be a new episode of SCANDAL and How To Get Away With Murder, I thought I would put this out before I indulge myself in television shows. A new scandal has erupted or attempted to erupt starring yours truly. I was out with the hubby role playing at some random public toilet in SL, where I played the role of the dirty slut and was to ride this big studs dick and bring him to ecstasy. Its a kink my man is into and it was fun for me too. Unbeknownst to us we were being recorded.

Well the recording somehow fell into the hands of those not too fond of me including a sullen ex-partner and this was the result.
The post was so malicious and damming that the thread only focused on the star of the film. Me. When I got wind of it I laughed and didn’t give it too much thought. Then I had a revelation, that I could actually use this to my advantage. By taking my story public and making it clear to those who attempt to shame or humiliate others, that the outcome can be twofold. This kind of internet bullying can victimize the meek and mild personality. I am neither and will call out all of the cowards directly for this attempt to disrupt a persons right of free expression.
So hear this Paparazzi keep your cameras loaded and look out for more footage as my partner and I continue to express ourselves around the grid.

I remember my friend Kevin who was in an abusive relationship during the years we were clubbing in NYC. His partner was so jealous that he couldn’t stand Kevin socializing outside of his small group of friends. For a long time we didn’t know it was physical because there were no obvious signs. During one holiday season when parties for the fellas were abundant, we all found ourselves in Brooklyn, NY at a club called One Hot Spot. The place was crowded and the drag comedienne Harmonica Sunbeam was performing. During the performance as all the hot sweaty men stood around watching and laughing, you could feel the heat resonate off the bodies of this hot guy or that hot guy. So Kevin who stood in close proximity to me noticed a guy trying to press up on me. He tapped me on the shoulder and gestured with his eyes for me to peer behind me. As I turned to see what was behind me I noticed Kevin’s lover grab him and jerk him toward him in an alarming manner. Then they began to argue and it was noticeable to everyone because at times it drowned Harmonica Sunbeam out. I remember Harmonica yelling “Security” on the mic. It provided for some laughter and lightening the moment. I remained bothered by what I witnessed as my friend winched and looked horrified by his lover. I went from party mode to defense mode. I was ready to fight. Kevin could see me welling up and quickly shook his head for me not to do anything. After the show when everyone began to return to the main dance floor downstairs. I stayed close to Kevin and his lover to make sure nothing was going to jump off. This dude was giving off really bad vibes. I do not know if I was making it worse but I knew i needed to be close. By the time we got to the top of the stairwell about to descend it happened. Kevin’s lover slapped him so hard he went flying down the flight of stairs. If you’ve ever been in a crowded club with a bunch of homosexual males, you could imagine the screams and the noise. I think i screamed and attacked his lover and we began to fight while others went to rescue Kevin. Kevin had a broken collar bone, 2 broken ribs, and a broken ankle. Meanwhile, I am being pulled off the lover by security and wrestled to the ground. Neither one of us was arrested but we were banned from the club. When I got to the hospital to see Kevin he was in his room crying saying he was sorry and he didn’t know what came over him. Out of respect for Kevin, I remained quiet. Deep inside I knew I would never trust my friend with this guy again. The hospital social worker arrived to speak to Kevin about his injuries and he said he slipped down a flight of stairs since it was unclear that his lover pushed him and I was no longer a good witness since I got put out the club for fighting. When the social worker asked who would be his caregiver at home Kevin looked at his lover and said he would. I felt so shut out and angry that I walked out of the hospital room. The social worker came over to me and told told me see’s it all the time and not just with women. She said, “Your friend will not let him go until he gets the help he needs”.
During those days there weren’t readily available support groups or programs for domestic violence as a whole let alone those tolerant to the GLBTQ community. Today organizations like GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project can assist and there is a 24-Hour DV Hotline: 800-832-1901.
I lost contact with Kevin as life took me in different directions. I still kept him in my heart and prayers. Years later I ran into Kevin outside of another club in Brooklyn and he was free of that man and that situation. I was like yes my prayers were answered. But it will take more than prayers for many others.
Of course when you run into abusive personalities in Second Life you can mute and block and keep it moving.
This blog is about socializing a non-gay friend. I use the phrase “non-gay” loosely for those comfortable in their closet. This is a topic of recent interest since running the virtual Nude Beach for Men Only on the Second Life Grid. We tend to attract all varieties which is our desired outcome. Closeted men who do not identify with common gay-isms or culture while having a homosexual relationship can be a real drag. The degree of comfort we as out gay men enjoy gets compromised because of the different sensitivities of the counters. Not every man likes being referred to as “Gurl” or “Chile” even though they are common colloquialisms in gay life. It is comparable to the use of “Brother” or “Sister” when members of the same race refer to each other. Not because they are blood related but because they share a cultural connection and some would say a gender preference (with just a hint of shade).
Speaking of shade, too often the banter between out gay men can and will include slights or insults toward one another. For example: “Hey Gurl, You looking beat today. What time you got in from that party last night?” But it is not always as serious as the proverbial “Read” which is intended to be insulting, degrading, and a low down gut punch. Sometimes it is just done in fun, as a joke to keep the moment lively and light or better yet colorful. To an outsider, this form of exchange can be perceived as hostile, combative, and negative. But to out gay men it was just a metaphorical means of describing a situation. Even less complicated than the last sentence, this banter would be expected knowing the intention of the person giving it. In my mind I would process it as: “Ooh miss thing aint right, but not too wrong. I am feeling exhausted.” And just for posterity, gay men never refer to themselves as being “Tired”. So get a thesaurus and find other creative ways to describe it. <snap>.
So what do we do to orient our not-so-gay friends? Just like anything, these things take time. I would first recommend keeping an open mind and being slow to pass judgment. Then out gay men, you can interpret at your leisure until they pick it up on their own. After-all there is no school or curriculum offering these lessons. It just requires a day in the life. And maybe a bit longer.

This blog is about marriage and relationships. How ready are many of us for marriage? Do we follow the existing models of matrimony or do we go into this journey with a fresh point of view. I personally believe the latter. Too often we travel down the roads of our heterosexual brethren while in non-traditional relationships. Even those couples that simulate the masculine and feminine roles suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, when the familiar “bads” creep into their relationships. And while in crisis, two men, may not possess the coping skills required to stick it out.
I love music and the lyrics of songs can be so profound. Inside one of my favorite Chaka Khan songs “Close the Door” these words rung out and stick with me til today.

This blog is about the recent resurgence of HIV + cases in the male on male homosexual community.
According to a recent World Health Organization (WHO) report http://www.who.int/hiv/pub/global-update.pdf?ua=1:
• Studies show that men who have sex with men are 19 times
and transgender women are almost 50 times more likely
to have HIV than the general adult population, and female
sex workers are 14 times more likely to have HIV than other
women.
• Even though the incidence of HIV infection is declining
overall, it appears to be rising in several places among men
who have sex with men. In some countries, a hostile context
makes it difficult and even dangerous for nongovernmental
organizations to provide services for this population.
• The HIV needs of transgender people continue to be
neglected or ignored, despite the high burden of HIV among
them.
Of course there are other statistics and groups affected by the epidemic but this is a blog for men and their issues on and off the grid. Second Life sex is the best contraceptive there is, but for those of us who do have sex out in the real world should be alerted to these facts.
Condom usage is not the only preventive measure men can use to mitigate the chances of infection:
WHO guidelines issued in 2014 (6,7) recommend several
options for expanding and enhancing prevention efforts
in key populations. They include continuing to scale
up the provision of male and female condoms, needle
and syringe programmes, services for preventing and
managing sexually transmitted infections as well as
the provision of ART regardless of CD4 cell count for
HIV-positive partners in serodiscordant relationships (6)
and offering ARV drugs for pre-exposure prophylaxis
of HIV for men who have sex with men as part of a
comprehensive HIV prevention package (7).

It never hurts to wrap it up fellas and to encourage our youth to wrap it up. The porn industry produces RAW sex video but they leave out the fact that it is regulated through testing and retesting of its participants. Even then it is still high-risk behavior.
